Out of Breath The Breathing Series Book 3 eBook Rebecca Donovan

I was drawn in from the very first book. By the time I made it to the third book, I had cried and felt more emotion than I had my entire life. While I'm way past being a teenager, I am a survivor. I would recommend this book, as well as the whole series, to every survivor and everyone who loves them.

I wanted to give a much lower rating due to the fact this third book was lousy with punctuation and missing words, causing the reader to have to re-read and insert missing words and punctuation to make it make sense. Also, at times, the Emma character is wearing something strapless, but in the next paragraph of page, his straps were being lowered. The same thing with Meg and Emma playing the "Name that band/song" game they play.

I felt this final book was rushed and could have easily been more completed, probably into a fourth book. You are left with a feeling of, "wait, what about..."

But the story is good! Extremely Good....

Out of Breath The Breathing Series Book 3 eBook Rebecca Donovan Reviews

5 Emotional Stars - This is the third book in the series. A little slow to start with till you get back into the story of Emma and Evan. Emma has moved to California to start a new life at a new college and to work through her internal struggles. She lives with her friends who know what she has been going through and are very protective and supportive of Emma. She meets Cole who is willing to take baby steps with Emma who swears to never fall in love so they are technically not dating. Emma never wants to "feel" again. Evan comes to California to stay with mates for his break and to try and get some answers from Emma as to why she just up and left. I found Emma to be a very emotional person who cries a lot and everyone tip toes around her emotions. A well written book which I really enjoyed.
I wanted to read this entire series before I wrote my review. I tried to understand why people gave this book any bad reviews but I'm drawing a blank here. First of all, you need to understand this series rips you apart and wrenches tears from your eyes throughout the majority of the story. Secondly, please understand this author leaves a lot up to the reader's imagination. You won't receive a blow by blow description of every sex scene or bit of violence. This story puts you in the victims shoes so when she reaches unconsciousness, the author ends the scene. I think that kind of writing is brilliant. Plus I have gotten soooo tired of overly-descriptive sex scenes. Thirdly, see my second point before you get mad at the ending. Readers will find out what happened at the end of the first novel when the author gives you a glimpse into another character's point of view in the third. The main characters are beautifully flawed, like we all are. Finally, I truly experienced not one dull moment in this novel. If you are the type that needs bombs, guns, or a lot of action, this book might not be for you. If you appreciate the artistry behind a well thought out character, the beauty of struggle, or a story that makes you truly feel emotions, read it.

I wanted to comment on some of the negative reviews of this book by stating that we are a product of our environment. No one taught her how to cope so it makes sense that she attempted what she had seen. She hurts people but she's honest about how defective she is which makes me like her. The point of view changes were necessary in the last novel to help fill in gaps in the main character's memory and to understand the wide range of damage.

The only thing that bothered me about this author was her ignoring grammar rules. I lost count of the number of sentences she started with "but".
I love him more than he will ever know. And because of that, I choose his happiness.

So the first book had me hook from the start. The second had me speechless and saying wtf at the ending. Then this one had me in tears and unable to breath when it all came to and end. Out of all the books I have read there’s only been a handful of REALLY emotional, addicting, suspenseful, draining, and high quality books read, and this is one of them. I don’t know how to explain it, kinda like something top rated. It just pulls you in from the beginning, right to the very last page of the last book.
I was so emotional through the whole book and unsure how it was all going to end.
Emma was truly a living wreck. She wasn’t the same anymore as she once was. Honestly she was depressed, hurting, and broken. After all the abuse and trauma she went through holding in major secrets, along with all the nightmares and memories became to much for her. It was kinda like having a breakdown. She was turning more to destruction than good. Trying to numb it all, not wanting to deal with it anymore, wishing she could just forget it all.
So in the beginning for a while I was in a slight slump missing Evan. You have Cole, and yes he was nice, and I did feel bad, but for me he just WAS. NOT. EVAN! I was even feeling depressed myself, lol like I was going through a loss. Once Evan was back in action, lol back in the picture, I was so happy.
One thing out of it all that I, will say I am thankful for, is the number one main people she still has in her life. I just love, how she still has Sara as a good friend. She’s someone that has never and would never give up on Emma and will fight till the end for her. Even when apart she’s always thinking about her and looking out for her.

“You can't keep pushing everyone away." She stood up from the chair, her body tense. "You can't keep doing this, because one of these days, you'll wake up and have no one.”

“Evan Mathews, you can tell yourself and everyone else that you’re here to get answers, for closure. But the truth is, you love her. You have always loved her. You will always love her. You’re here because you can’t walk away. You saw how broken and empty she was back in Weslyn, and you had to follow her. You’ll never be able to let her go. You’re here because… it’s where you belong, with her.”

Then you have Sara’s parents, they truly are the best and care for her so much. They also look out for her and are there for whenever they’re needed. She might not be their daughter but they would do anything for her.
Evan is also the same way. Even though she hurt him he would do anything for her, just to see her happy. If something had ever happened to Emma, I don’t think he would even know how to survive. And of course I just love Evan, he’s the most perfect person ever to even come along.

“That day… of my run. I almost gave up.” My heartbeat picked up. “I walked out into the ocean, and just kept going. I wanted it to take me. To drown the guilt. I didn’t want to hurt anymore. I didn’t want to be hated anymore. I didn’t want to keep breathing.” Her words stole the air from my lungs. “Emma.” She crumpled onto her knees. I caught her, wrapping her in my arms. “You don’t get to quit on me. Because if you do, you’ll take me with you. And you can’t do that to us.” Tears stung my eyes as she collapsed against me. “I can’t…” Her voice broke. “I can’t do this anymore.” “Then I’ll do it for you,” I rasped, my throat closing. “Let me love you. Let me love you enough for the two of us, until you can accept that you’re worth it. Because you are, Emma. I don’t know how to convince you. But I’ll spend the rest of my life trying. You can’t give up on me now. I won’t let you.”

Im also glad and thankful for the roommates that she does have, some people wouldn’t be as nice as they were to her. It was really great to see how they cared and looked out for her as a friend, just as much as Sara did. I really think it made Sara feel a little better knowing that she had someone there for her when they were apart. A lot of it was just as hard for Sara too. Seeing how Emma was getting through each day and how she had changed was very upsetting and worrying to her. Sadly without her few friends, Sara’s parent, and Evan, I don’t think Emma would of ever survived it all.

“I don’t understand. You still… love me?” He released the slightest chuckle. “Yeah, I do. And I know you’re not the same girl. But I’m in love with you, Emma. I fell in love with you all over again this summer. People change. I know this. And we’ll continue to change. That just means I’ll get to fall in love with you again. Because no matter what happens in our lives, what I feel for you will survive anything.”

So you can see this isn’t a series you want to pass up. It really is one of the best and is one I will never forget.
I was drawn in from the very first book. By the time I made it to the third book, I had cried and felt more emotion than I had my entire life. While I'm way past being a teenager, I am a survivor.
