This book did not take long to read because once I started reading one story I wanted to keep reading till its conclusion and each story seemed to flow rather well. The overall layout of the book was nice and the addition of some otherkin-related artwork also was a nice added feature.

What made this book good for me to read was it was a chance to read fictional stories about what real-life otherkin could possibly go through in relationships with other people. Each story was different both in the conflict within the story and the characters. Despite this book possibly being seen as a romance anthology, in reality its really about different kinds of relationships ranging from more friendships to a relationship that could turn into something more romantic to being an already established romantic relationship and so on. To be honest, I really, really, don't like "romance novels" but I liked this anthology if that tells you anything about the tones and moods about the short stories. The interactions between characters kept my attention.I also liked that the species the characters identified as was generally diverse. Another thing I really liked was how a few stories actually had same-sex relationships as their focus.

In total, I really hope to see more books like this come out in the future. Books which explore what real-life otherkin experience in some way or another.

I say "surprisingly" because a lot of titles that purport to be about otherkin are anywhere from eye-rolling to infuriating. If these authors are not all otherkin or therians themselves, then they did good jobs researching.

The seven stories are about a raven (or "sea raven" is said in the text, but that appears to be a fish and the story is definitely about an avian experience); some kind of alien beast; a margay (a kind of small wild cat) and a dhole (a kind of wild dog); possibly some sort of alien or otherworldly person (it was never made clear); an angel; a wolf, coyote, and magpie; and a dragon. I wish that a couple more mythological sorts had been included, like an elf, sidhe, or faery, but for as short as it is, it's quite good.
It was really informative and interesting. I only didn't like one story and I have a favorite story as well
First, I want everyone to kindly ignore the negative and unessessary comment by Mr. C.J. 88. Said person obviously have no idea of what the Otherkin subculture is, it's history, or the people within it. A little history; The Otherkin community has existed since the 1990's. There are people known within the community who have identified as such even from the 1970's. 'Otherkin' is a term made up by people who either believe, feels, or have a desire to be something other than human, be it real-life animal or mythological. However, we are fully aware that we are human. We ARE humans who just happens to identify closely with/as something non-human, which is far from a mental illness unless a person happens to be a danger to themselves or society. Some believe it is spiritual, others believe it is psychological or neurogical. However, psychology does NOT equal mental illness. Yes, there are crazy & immature otherkin out there however, just as there are crazy & immature people in any other sort of subculture, but do NOT judge us all becuase of those people. I know otherkin who are science engineers. Psychologists. Zoologists. Scientists. Students. One of my (in real life) oherkin friends also happens to be a favored science engineer with their pockets full of money, who are able to hold a real life job and act professionally and function just fine in society. Please explain to me how that equals mental illness. Otherkin are people with a spiritual belief. We're not lunatics.

Anyway, back on topic; The book is good, enjoyable. Deffinitely worth a read. Even though the book is fictional, it is easy to relate with the characters and the feelings you get from reading the book.
